- Whom it may concern
On the behalf of The United Workers-Farmers Organization of Viet Nam (UWFOV) we condemn the recent trial of Father Nguyen Van Ly and the members of the Progression Party on March 30, 2007 in Hue . The verdicts on Father Ly and members of the Progression Party are based on the untruthful and fabricated reasons, aiming to cover the systematic crackdown on the democratic movement in Viet Nam .
The United Workers-Farmers Organization of Viet Nam urgently asks the Vietnamese government to release all members of the UWFOV including Mr. Tran Quoc Hien, spokesman, Mr. Nguyen Tan Hoanh, Mrs. Tran Thi Le Hang, Mr. Doan Van Dien, Mr. Doan Huy Chuong. We are very concerned about the false imprisonment and requests an immediate release of the peaceful democratic activists such as Lawyer Nguyen Van Dai, Lawyer Le Thi Cong Nhan, Lawyer Le Quoc Quan, Lawyer Tran Thi Thuy Trang; many leading members of the People’s Democratic Party such as Dr. Le Nguyen Sang, Journalist Huynh Nguyen Dao, Lawyer Nguyen Bac Truyen, Artist Tran Tuan, Mr. Le Trung Hieu, member of Dedicated Vietnamese Delegations, Mr. Hong Trung as well as Block 8406’s members
The coming congress election on May 20, 2007 which is controlled and manipulated by the communist party. The so-called congressional representatives don’t truly represent our people or our workers and farmers’ interest. In fact, they are merely the puppets of the Vietnam communist party. Such is an election without freedom of choice, transparency and unjustice.
We also call on all the political parties, and organizations fighting for democracy and human rights, all the worker unions in the world and all the nations in the free world to support us so that the United Workers-Farmers Organization of Viet Nam can continue our noble fight for human rights and dignity of workers and farmers in Viet Nam .
Best Regards,
Nham Van Cao
